The highly acclaimed series Junior Doctors: Your Life In Their Hands has been re-commissioned for a second series for Â鶹Éç Three. It became the channel's highest-rating factual entertainment programme when it debuted with an audience of 1.2 million earlier this year, rising to 1.5 million mid-run, adding to the channel's success story of being the most watched digital channel for the hours in which it broadcasts.

The first series charted the progress of seven recently qualified junior doctors as they hit the wards of Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary and the Newcastle General Hospital. Viewers saw the twenty-somethings juggle life as young adults with their new-found responsibilities across some of the hospitals' busiest departments.

Zai Bennett, Controller of Â鶹Éç Three, said: "Junior Doctors has been one of the stand-out original programmes on Â鶹Éç Three this year. I'm delighted that we are bringing it back with a new cast of young doctors in a new location early next year."

The new series was commissioned by Â鶹Éç Three controller Zai Bennett and Karl Warner, Â鶹Éç Executive Editor for Entertainment Commissioning. The 6x60-minute series is a Â鶹Éç Vision Production and will be executive produced by Rachel Arnold.
