After six years on screen playing cardiothoracic consultant Connie Beauchamp, Amanda Mealing will be leaving Holby City later this year. She has played the role since 2004.

Belinda Campbell, Executive Producer, Holby City, says: "Amanda has been an invaluable asset to the Holby City team and will be thoroughly missed. She created an iconic character and Connie will not be forgotten.

"Connie will have a dramatic but heart-warming departure which will tie in to the dramatic entrance of an exciting new regular character."

Details on a departure date will be confirmed later this year.
