Andy Brereton, currently a development executive at talkbackThames, is to join the Â鶹Éç's In-house Entertainment department as executive producer, comedy entertainment development, Katie Taylor, Head of Â鶹Éç Entertainment & Events, announced today.

Having started his career in the industry as a Â鶹Éç trainee within the Light Entertainment department, Andrew joined talkbackThames in 2005 where he either developed, devised and/or series-produced various entertainment formats including The King Is Dead for Â鶹Éç Three and Take Me Out for ITV.

Prior to this he worked as a development producer, an executive producer and a producer director at 12 Yard working on many entertainment shows including In It To Win It (Â鶹Éç One), Coach Trip Series 1 and 2 (Channel 4) and Eggheads (Â鶹Éç Two) to name but a few.

Andy will be working closely with Sarah Edwards, Head of Format Development, with a particular focus on new comedy entertainment formats – an area Â鶹Éç in-house entertainment is looking to grow.

Katie Taylor said: "I am thrilled that Andrew will be bringing his skills at working with comic talent and formatting gripping comedy entertainment ideas for Â鶹Éç in-house."

Andy said: "I've enjoyed working at talkbackThames with some of the most talented programme makers in the industry, but it feels great to be returning to the Â鶹Éç who gave me my first ever job in television. I cannot wait to get started in creating some new, distinct and exciting comedy entertainment formats for the Â鶹Éç."

Andrew joins on 7 June.
