Aftershock: Nigerian bank governor to discuss reforms with Â鶹Éç's African audiences

Â鶹Éç World Service is to engage the man who is cutting a swathe through the Nigerian financial system in a conversation with audiences across Africa.

As part of the Aftershock season of programmes, investigating the impact of the global economic crisis, the reforming governor of the Nigerian Central Bank, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, will be answering audiences' questions live on Â鶹Éç World Service's flagship interactive programme, Africa Have Your Say, at 1600 GMT on Tuesday 22 September 2009.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been spearheading a campaign against fraud and mismanagement, putting himself at loggerheads with many among Nigeria's financial elite.

Since his appointment he has dismissed five major banking executives, and several banking officials are now facing various fraud and corruption charges. He has pumped more than 400 billion naira (US $26 million) into failing financial institutions of Nigeria.

Where will his reforms end? Can he keep the confidence of President Umaru Yar'Adua?

Â鶹Éç World Service asks audiences across Africa if other countries can or should learn from his policies, if other financial systems need remodelling and in what shape various African countries – and the wider continent – will emerge from the global financial crisis.

To join the debate and ask questions, go to bbcworldservice.com/africahaveyoursay or send an SMS message to +44 77 86 20 20 08.

The programme can also be followed via Facebook – facebook.com/africahys – and Twitter – twitter.com/bbcafricahys.

The Aftershock season of programmes is currently broadcasting across the Â鶹Éç's global news services – Â鶹Éç World Service, Â鶹Éç World News and bbc.com.
