Iconic cookery show MasterChef is transferring to Â鶹Éç One.

The most recent series, which finished in February 2009, peaked at an average of 5.2 million viewers (21% of the audience) for the final and averaged 3.7 million (15% of the audience) viewers throughout the series on Â鶹Éç Two.

The programme began in 1990 on Â鶹Éç One, but moved to Â鶹Éç Two in 2000 and was revamped into its current form in 2005.

MasterChef, presented and judged by John Torode and Gregg Wallace, follows members of the public as they set out to prove they have the flair and skill to make it as a great chef.

Contestants face high-pressure tasks and have to prove they have a genuine commitment to changing their lives in favour of a future in the food industry.

Jay Hunt, Controller of Â鶹Éç One, says: "MasterChef remains the best celebration of amateur cooking on British television. I have watched it religiously since I was a child and am delighted it will be moving to Â鶹Éç One."
