Â鶹Éç's international charity appoints new Director

The Â鶹Éç World Service Trust, the Â鶹Éç's international charity, has appointed Caroline Nursey as its new Director. Caroline Nursey joins the Â鶹Éç World Service Trust from Oxfam GB where she has held a range of Director-level roles based both at Oxfam HQ and in the field.

"I'm delighted to have Caroline join us at this important stage of the Â鶹Éç World Service Trust's development" says Chair Nigel Chapman. "She is joining the charity at the start of its tenth anniversary year, so the timing provides both a great opportunity to celebrate a decade of creative and innovative projects engaging media to create better lives, and to chart an exciting course for the future.

"Caroline's combination of fundraising, strategic and financial skills, along with her hands-on experience of development projects in various parts of Africa and the Middle East, made her the outstanding applicant in a very strong field."

In addition to seven years' experience at Oxfam, Nursey led the World University Service for six years, and before that was Head of Overseas Projects at Y Care International. She has a further 10 years of experience in education, mostly with the VSO in Tanzania and the UK.

Caroline Nursey says of her new role: "I first came to value the work of the Â鶹Éç World Service Trust when I was based in Sudan and I encountered its Lifeline Radio project in Darfur. What struck me then was the critical role media can play in helping communities get the information they need first to survive and then to thrive.

"Thanks to its wide-ranging and highly creative projects, millions of people are better placed to shape their own futures through access to informative media. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to lead such an able and talented organisation into this, its second decade."

Caroline Nursey will take up her position by April.
