Wallace And Gromit lead a "cracking" Christmas Day for Â鶹Éç One

Â鶹Éç One enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Day with 14.3 million people tuning in to enjoy the latest outing from Wallace And Gromit in A Matter Of Loaf And Death.

Elsewhere almost 12 million followed the latest adventures of Doctor Who and EastEnders.

Viewing headlines for the day include:

Â鶹Éç One had 9 of the top 10 shows on Christmas Day.

Wallace And Gromit – A Matter Of Loaf And Death was the highest rating Christmas Day programme with an average audience of 14.3 million and a 53.3% share.

This is the biggest Christmas Day show of the last five years and the biggest show of the year on any channel.

Â鶹Éç One had more than double the share of the nearest terrestrial channel in both all hours and peak time.

Â鶹Éç One had its second best Christmas all hours share in the last five years with 34.2% tuning in.

Â鶹Éç One had its second highest peak time share in the last five years with 43.7% tuning in.

Strictly Come Dancing increased its audience to 8.6 million and a 35% share for this year's final. Up from 8.3 million and 32.9% share last year.

This year there were more people watching television than last year. The average total audience in peak time was 24.4 million compared to 23.8 million in 2007.

There was an audience quarter hour peak of 27.1 million this year compared to 25.4 million in 2007.
