In conjunction with Â鶹Éç's Capital of Culture celebrations, µþµþ°äÌý´¡°ù³¦³ó¾±±¹±ð celebrates Liverpool – the City of Pop.

Liverpool has spawned so many chart-topping hits that the Guinness Book Of Records named it "The City of Pop". Even people who have never visited the city have heard of Penny Lane and the ferries 'cross the Mersey.

This autumn, as Liverpool's year as the European Capital of Culture comes to a close, the Â鶹Éç Archive brings you the musical story of a Wondrous Place.

Highlights of this collection include complete interviews with Sixties heart-throb Billy Fury, who explains how he was groomed for stardom, and Bob Wooler, the man who brought The Beatles to the Cavern Club.

Â鶹Éç Radio 2's Janice Long, who has met many of the top Liverpool bands throughout her career, says: "It's great to be able to take a trip back in time and become reacquainted with some old friends from such an iconic period, both in Liverpool's and the UK's musical history.

"The River Mersey runs through so much great British pop music, and the Â鶹Éç Archive has given us such a great opportunity to fall in love with these celebrated local artists all over again."

The collection also includes interviews with Gerry Marsden (of Gerry & The Pacemakers) and Cilla Black at the start of their careers.

The story doesn't end in the Sixties; the collection also boasts interviews with the stars of the Eighties – such as Holly Johnson of Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Pete Wylie of The Mighty Wah – while insightful documentaries follow the social and political influences on Mersey music from the two decades when the world danced to Liverpool's beat, the Sixties and the Eighties.

The Â鶹Éç Archive's Music From The Mersey collection is part of a host of events and projects planned by the Â鶹Éç to celebrate Liverpool's year as the European Capital of Culture.

It includes archive footage of La Machine, Tall Ships and the Liverpool Sound concert, which was headlined by Paul McCartney.

The site is currently exploring Liverpool's musical heritage with a series of exclusive video interviews and acoustic video sessions from 40 years of musical history, including The Christians, Ian Broudie and Kathryn Williams.
