The Prince of Wales

Charles At 60: The person behind the public face is revealed on Â鶹Éç One

To mark the Prince of Wales' 60th birthday in November, µþµþ°äÌý°¿²Ô±ð will show an illuminating documentary that shows a side rarely seen in public of one of the most influential men in Britain.

Ìý

Over the course of a year, the Â鶹Éç – with unprecedented access – has observed the Prince at work and on duty in the UK and abroad, and at home at Clarence House in London, Highgrove in Gloucestershire and Birkhall in Aberdeenshire.

Ìý

The result is Charles At 60: The Passionate Prince, a fascinating and unique look at the work of the Prince through the causes closest to his heart, his many charities and the ever increasing demands made on him as heir to the throne.

Ìý

Nick Vaughan-Barratt, Executive Producer, said: "This important documentary sheds new light on the Prince of Wales.

Ìý

"Many people have a view about the Prince but few people know him well; this film looks behind and beyond the headlines at the man himself.

Ìý

"It shows the Prince using his substantial influence to further a wide variety of causes – some of them unfashionable, some controversial – and it provides a rare opportunity to hear him speaking directly, not just about what he does but why he is so passionate about the many causes he espouses."

Ìý

Jay Hunt, Controller, Â鶹Éç One, said: "Â鶹Éç One's portrait of the Prince of Wales shows him at work in ways we have never seen before. It's a unique and insightful look at the future monarch."

Ìý

The programme will be narrated by writer Robert Hardman, produced by John Bridcut and shown on Â鶹Éç One in the lead up to the Prince of Wales' 60th birthday on 14 November 2008.
