Freddi: new Â鶹Éç Four comedy commission

Freddi, a brand new comedy commission for Â鶹Éç Four, follows the trials and tribulations of a Russian émigré family based in London.

Ìý

This half-hour transmittable comedy pilot from Arbie, a new joint venture company with talkbackTHAMES, will star Sacha Alexander, who is also creator and writer, with co-writing from Mark Staheli.

Ìý

Alexander will star as the lead character, Russian billionaire Vladimir "Freddi" Federov.

Ìý

Freddi has got it all – a successful business empire, a glamorous second wife, a loving daughter, a loyal bodyguard, and a vast mansion nestling in the Surrey countryside.

Ìý

But Freddi has a problem. Having made enough money for five lifetimes, he's not sure what to do with one.

Ìý

The pilot's line-up will also include Charity Wakefield (Sense And Sensibility, Casualty 1907), Rory McCann (The Book Group, Attila The Hun), Susannah Wise (Peep Show, The IT Crowd) and Dave Skinner (Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive), and will feature a cameo appearance from Rob Brydon.

Ìý

Freddi will film in London this September.

Ìý

Freddi has been commissioned by Janice Hadlow, Controller, Â鶹Éç Four, and Lucy Lumsden, Controller, Comedy Commissioning, Â鶹Éç Vision.

Ìý

The pilot will be produced and directed by Alex Kavallierou. Miles Ross and Duncan Hayes are Executive Producers, and Rob Brydon is Script Editor.

Ìý

Miles Ross, Managing Director of Arbie, says: "Sacha (Alexander) has created in Freddi that rare thing, a brilliantly funny yet completely believable character. We are very excited about the script and can't wait to get shooting."

Ìý

Arbie, headed up by Miles Ross and Rob Brydon, is also currently in post production of Lifespam, a spoof shock documentary for Â鶹Éç Three written by and starring Alice Lowe (Annually Retentive, The Mighty Boosh, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace).
