Â鶹Éç Proms on television

The Â鶹Éç today announces new primetime Saturday nights for the 2008 Â鶹Éç Proms on Â鶹Éç Two, regular live relays on µþµþ°äÌý¹ó´Ç³Ü°ù and that all televised Proms will be available on demand on the Â鶹Éç iPlayer.

Ìý

For the first time Â鶹Éç Two has a regular primetime weekly presence at the Â鶹Éç Proms throughout the season, providing Proms broadcasts on Saturday nights, adding to Â鶹Éç Two's coverage of the First Night on Friday 18 July and the Last Night.

Ìý

Â鶹Éç One joins the live celebrations for the climax of the Last Night of the Proms on Saturday 13 September.

Ìý

The new Saturday nights on Â鶹Éç Two, beginning on 26 July, include relays of live Proms; in-depth insights into notable anniversaries such as the Hallé Orchestra and Vaughan Williams; highlights from Nigel Kennedy's first performances at the Proms for 21 years; a recreation of the traditional Proms concept of a "Beethoven Night"; and a celebration of two of the world's leading conductors, Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez.

Ìý

The presenters are conductor Charles Hazlewood and broadcaster Suzy Klein, both of whom are regular contributors to Â鶹Éç Radio 3, and who will also present the Proms on µþµþ°äÌý¹ó´Ç³Ü°ù.

Ìý

For the first time Â鶹Éç Two will be based in a specially-built studio within the Royal Albert Hall building, which will have a large screen showing preparations within the auditorium, as well as showing specially recorded films and live interviews with artists backstage.

Ìý

Clive Anderson joins Suzy Klein for the Last Night Of The Proms, and the pair also present the Great Conductors Proms, which complements Â鶹Éç Two's new conducting series Maestro, also presented by Clive Anderson, which begins in August.

Ìý

All Â鶹Éç Two Proms are also broadcast on the Â鶹Éç HD channel and all televised Proms are available to view for seven days on the Â鶹Éç iPlayer.

Ìý

Â鶹Éç Four also offers a consistent pattern of concerts across the season, with Proms every Sunday and Monday evening for seven weeks, with some additional concerts mid-season to include performances given by Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez.

Ìý

Most of the Â鶹Éç Four programmes are live, but some of the most sought-after concerts of the season will also be recorded to ensure audiences have the opportunity to experience them.

Ìý

These will include Sir Simon Rattle with the Berlin Philharmonic and the World Music gala, both of which fall on days other than the regular Sunday and Monday slots on Â鶹Éç Four.

Ìý

The presenters for the Proms on Â鶹Éç Four are Charles Hazlewood, Suzy Klein, Sara Mohr-Pietsch, Verity Sharp and Petroc Trelawny, all of whom also present Proms on Radio 3.
