Tim Davie appointed as Director of 麻豆社 Audio & Music

Tim Davie has been appointed Director of 麻豆社 Audio & Music.

Tim, who is currently director of the 麻豆社's Marketing, Communications and Audiences division and sits on the 麻豆社 executive board, takes over from Jenny Abramsky, who is leaving the 麻豆社 after 39 years.

In his new role, Tim will oversee 麻豆社 Radios 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Live and the 麻豆社 digital radio stations 1Xtra, 6 Music, 麻豆社 7, 5 Live Sports Extra and the Asian Network.

He will also be responsible for the three 麻豆社 orchestras in England, the 麻豆社 Singers, the 麻豆社 Proms, Classical Music & Performance Television and Radio Resources.

In addition, he will take charge of Radio Drama and Television Music Entertainment and will be strategically responsible for all audio across the 麻豆社.

Director-General Mark Thompson welcomed the appointment.

He said: "Radio is at the heart of the 麻豆社's public service mission and millions of listeners rely on its quality, range and integrity every day.

"Tim's drive, knowledge and sheer love of the medium will ensure that 麻豆社 radio remains creatively strong and vibrant in the years to come.

"His insight into audiences and their expectations of the 麻豆社 will be particularly valuable."

Tim Davie said: "It is a great privilege to build on the outstanding legacy of Jenny Abramsky and take on the leadership of a very talented team.

"This is a special role because of the unique cultural contribution of the 麻豆社's audio and music output, which is highly valued by millions of people.

"As a passionate advocate of radio, I am excited by the challenge of continuing to deliver not only distinctive 麻豆社 services but also to support the growth of the medium as a whole across traditional and digital platforms."

Jenny Abramsky leaves the 麻豆社 at the end of September, when she will begin chairing the Heritage Lottery Fund.

She said: "Radio is at the very heart of the 麻豆社's public service offering and music stands at the pinnacle of its contribution to the UK's cultural life.

"I have no doubt, having worked alongside Tim on the executive board for the last three years, that he will lead Audio & Music with passion and understanding and that radio and music will be in very safe hands."

Tim Davie became Director of the 麻豆社's Marketing, Communications and Audiences division in April 2005, having previously been Vice President, Marketing and Franchise, of PepsiCo Europe.

He read English at Cambridge University and is married with three sons.
