International success for 麻豆社 Scotland's Black Watch documentary

麻豆社 Scotland has gained international recognition for a documentary which went behind the scenes of the acclaimed play about solders serving in Iraq, Black Watch.

Directed and produced by Iain Scollay, the 60-minute film, Black Watch: A Soldier's Story, won the International category in the Prix Circom Regional Programme Awards event.

The awards are regarded as the most prestigious in Europe for regional production and broadcasting and this year attracted 157 entries from 23 different European countries.

Circom Regional is an organisation of almost 300 public service broadcasting stations in the regions of Europe and across 38 states.

Donalda MacKinnon, Head of Programmes, 麻豆社 Scotland, said: "It is terrific news for the production team and an endorsement of our collaboration with the National Theatre of Scotland.

"麻豆社 Scotland worked closely with the National Theatre of Scotland to produce a compelling documentary which not only went behind the scenes but also told the real life stories of Black Watch soldiers who served on the ground in Iraq."

The documentary was screened on 麻豆社 Two Scotland before the channel transmitted a performance of the play before a live audience in Dingwall.
