SoundTown: Baldragon Academy is writing a book!

Pupils at Â鶹Éç Radio Scotland's SoundTown school, Baldragon Academy, are to write a book.

Ìý

With the assistance of the Write Here, Right Now project, in which budding authors get advice on how to go about the craft of writing, the pupils of the Dundee school have been scribbling away over the month of February.

Ìý

Children's author Cathy Forde visited the school to get the pupils' ideas down on paper at the start of the month.

Ìý

Publishers Barrington Stoke popped in to give the budding authors an idea of what exactly children's publishers are looking for in a manuscript and how to design the book cover.

Ìý

And today, Monday 25 February, Cathy McPhail will be visiting the school to teach the pupils about writing crime, with celebrated crime author Christopher Brookmyre coming into the classroom the following day, telling the pupils how he started writing crime novels.

Ìý

SoundTown producer Rebecca Smith is enthusiastic about the project.

Ìý

She says: "The scholars are responding very well to the challenge and we hope to have the finished article by the end of March.

Ìý

"We also have wider television and radio interest in the project – so Baldragon will soon be on the cultural map!"
