Â鶹Éç to host stage at Bestival

The Â鶹Éç is to host a stage at this year's Bestival, featuring the best new acts and live DJ sets.

Ìý

The Â鶹Éç Introducing... tent will line up 36 up-and-coming artists – including Jack Peñate, Foals, Architecture In Helsinki and I Like Trains – at the three-day music festival on the Isle of Wight in September.

Ìý

In addition to the bands, the likes of Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Annie Mac will be hosting and DJing at the stage over the weekend, it was announced on Â鶹Éç Radio 1 last night.

Ìý

The 1,000-capacity venue picks up where the Rock 'n' Roll Tent left off last year, as the prime destination for great new music championed by festival curator and Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank and located in the centre of the festival site.

Ìý

Highlights of the performances will also be available to listen to on new music shows across Â鶹Éç Radio and to watch online after the festival.

Ìý

The announcement follows the success of the Â鶹Éç Introducing. stage at this year's Glastonbury Festival and is part of the Â鶹Éç's continuing commitment to supporting new music.

Ìý

Jason Carter, Editor, Live Events, Radio 1 and 1Xtra, who leads Â鶹Éç Introducing... said: "We're delighted to have Â鶹Éç Introducing... host a new music stage at this year's Bestival. It's fantastic for us to have a strong presence supporting new talent at one of the most exciting events in the UK."

Ìý

Rob Da Bank, Bestival curator, said: "I'm really pleased the Â鶹Éç Introducing... stage is coming to Bestival! It's a really great platform for up-and-coming acts and totally reflects my and Bestival's love of new and underground music that might well pop up in the charts in a few months."

Bestival

Ìý

Bestival is a three-day boutique music festival set at Robin Hill on the heart of the Isle of Wight from 7 to 9 September.

Ìý

Full line-up and details can be found at .

Ìý

Bestival was born out of ten years of pioneering music events and record releases from Rob da Bank's Sunday Best empire. The Radio 1 leftfield DJ had a dream to one day create his vision of how the modern day festival should be.

Ìý

Along with Creative Director and wife Josie da Bank and co-founders/partners John and Ziggy from Get Involved, that dream is now fulfilled.

Ìý

The first Bestival, in September 2004, was headlined by Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim, Zero 7, The Bees, Mylo and Lee 'Scratch' Perry and was a ground-breaking success.

Ìý

Bestival 2005 was voted the Best Medium-sized Festival and the Most Innovative Festival (by the festival-going public) at the 2005 UK Festival Awards.

Ìý

Bestival 2006 was headlined by Scissor Sisters, Gogol Bordello and Pet Shop Boys and won Best Medium-sized Festival category at the 2006 UK Festival Awards.
