Â鶹Éç Radio Gloucestershire has gained 10,000 extra listeners over the last year and now has an average weekly audience of 96,000 – a record for the station – according to latest official figures.

The figures are from Rajar (Radio Joint Audience Research Ltd), an independent survey system which tracks radio listening for both Â鶹Éç and commercial stations. The period measured was the first quarter of 2007.

Rajar's figures also reveal that, within the Radio Gloucestershire transmission area, more than 20% of the population listen to the station each week. Year on year this is up from 18.3% to 20.1%.

Mark Hurrell, Managing Editor, Radio Gloucestershire, says: "We are absolutely thrilled that our audience figures are up once again and that we now have a record 96,000 people tuning in each week.

"It's amazing to think that we are reaching over a fifth of the county's population!"
