A new look for Sunday mornings on Â鶹Éç One

Jay Hunt, Controller, Â鶹Éç Daytime & Early Peak, has announced two new commissions set to bring a new look to Â鶹Éç One's Sunday morning religious slot.

Ìý

The commissions have been awarded following the first tender process in Â鶹Éç Vision's Window Of Creative Competition (WOCC) – the 25% of commissions that Â鶹Éç in-house production and the independent sector compete for.

Ìý

The contracts have been won by two independent production companies based outside London.

Ìý

From Mentorn Oxford comes Heart And Soul (working title), a new multi-faith programme featuring a panel and a studio audience.

Ìý

The fast-paced show will debate and explore the religious, moral and ethical questions exercising the nation and will come from different locations across the UK. The series begins on Â鶹Éç One later this year.

Ìý

Life From The Loft (working title) is made by Leeds-based independent True North.

Ìý

The new magazine show will take the defining issues of our age including faith, spirituality and morality and make them appealing and accessible.

Ìý

With an extensive multi-platform presence and an emphasis on audience involvement throughout the week, the show is designed to have a strong life beyond transmission.

Ìý

The programme will be broadcast from Bradford, one of Britain's most spiritually vibrant cities.

Ìý

The series will follow Heart And Soul in the Â鶹Éç One Sunday morning slot in 2008.

Ìý

Jay Hunt said: "We've taken the opportunity to introduce some brave new ideas to Sunday mornings on Â鶹Éç One. Both are creatively strong and it will be fascinating to see what our audience thinks of them."

Ìý

Adam Kemp, Commissioning Editor, Arts, Music and Religion, said: "Religious programmes at the Â鶹Éç are undergoing an exciting change and the fact that two new shows will be appearing in this important daytime slot underlines our commitment to this genre."
