Â鶹Éç Asian Network goes all out at Edinburgh Festival



The Â鶹Éç Asian Network's art, entertainment and culture show, Nikki Bedi on the Â鶹Éç Asian Network, will broadcast from the Edinburgh Festival.

Ìý

Nikki's big guests include Big Brother and Â鶹Éç 6 Music's Russell Brand, who talks about his return to the stage; former Popworld presenter Simon Anstell, who talks about giving up tv for stand up comedy; and Muslim comedian Shazia Mirza.

Ìý

The show will reflect on the festival and offer interviews with comedians, writers, film-makers, actors and performers, bringing the whole festival experience to listeners.

Ìý

Other comedians appearing on the show include critically-acclaimed Lucy Porter and Shappi Khrosandi.

Ìý

Plus, a round table of comics including Inder Manocha, Ayesha Hazarika and Patrick Monahan discuss the fringe and solo stand-up shows.

Ìý

Nikki will also be joined by a number of talented writers including Channel 4's first chief, Sir Jeremy Isaacs, who talks about a life in television.

Ìý

Jenny Coglan discusses how to write comedy and Mark Billingham talks crime fiction and his passion for the fringe festival.

Ìý

Nikki taps into her theatrical side as she explores a number of fascinating stage productions and how Shakespeare is given the fringe treatment, with Hamlet on a Bouncy Castle and Macbeth to a Sinatra Soundtrack.

Ìý

Listeners can also expect a special live music session from the Bandish Projectand a real Scottish feel to the programme as Nikki gets into the sprit by joining the Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour.

Ìý

The Nikki does Edinburgh podcast, will also be offered as a one off, making it the second podcast offering for the Asian Network.

Ìý

The show will broadcast from the Opal Lounge, George Street - opposite the Assembly Rooms - from Monday 21 to Friday 25 August.
