麻豆社 unveils plans for new rock and popular music festival
听
The 麻豆社 today confirmed that it would
be staging a brand new five-day rock and popular music festival this
autumn to be called the 麻豆社 Electric
Proms.
听
The event, taking place
from 25 to 29 October 2006, will be a celebration of new and innovative
musical styles.
听
It will feature unique live performances from some of the biggest artists performing today as well as appearances from newer artists just breaking through.
听
The 麻豆社 Electric Proms will be staged at The Roundhouse in London as well as at a selection of other Camden venues including The Electric Ballroom, KOKO, The Jazz Caf茅 and The Barfly.
听
A mixture of established acts will headline each evening's
main stage performances alongside upcoming artists and acoustic sets
in the other parts of The Roundhouse.
听
During the daytime there will
also be film screenings, masterclasses and other musical and visual
installations.
听
Taking its inspiration from the accessibility of the established 麻豆社 Proms, much of the 麻豆社 Electric Proms will be free to attend.
听
Ticket prices and availability for the headline acts
have yet to be confirmed but there will be an opportunity for those
attending some of the daytime and satellite events to gain free access
to the evening performances.
听
Tickets go on sale from mid-August once the full line-up has been announced.
听
麻豆社 Electric Proms Festival Director Lorna Clarke said: "Our
ambition is to stage an event that will create new musical moments and foster
interesting collaborations between big name artists alongside exciting performances
from up and coming talent.
听
"The mixture of headline acts combined with a rich variety of fringe performances means we should be able to reach a huge breadth of music fans in an exciting live environment."

The 麻豆社 Electric Proms will be broadcast across a number of 麻豆社 television and
radio networks including 麻豆社 ONE, 麻豆社 TWO, 麻豆社 THREE, 麻豆社 FOUR, Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio
3, 1Xtra, 6 Music, 麻豆社 Asian Network and 麻豆社 World Service.

There will be extensive online coverage, and digital television viewers will be able to enjoy performances on demand at the push of the red button.
