Blackpool, Rome and The Girl In The Café get Golden Globe nominations

Â鶹Éç Drama productions have picked up several nominations at this year's Golden Globes.

Ìý

Blackpool, renamed Viva Blackpool for the US market, has been nominated in the category Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for television.

Ìý

Written by Peter Bowker (Flesh And Blood, Shakespeare Re-Told, Canterbury Tales), Blackpool - which starred David Morrissey, Sarah Parish and new Doctor Who David Tennant - has already pick up two BANFF Awards.

David Morrissey is due to reprise his role in a one-off special which is due to begin filming in January 2006 for transmission in the spring on Â鶹Éç ONE.

Peter Bowker says: "This is fantastic news, and a total surprise. It just goes to show what I've always suspected - that Americans have impeccably good taste!"

Rome, a Â鶹Éç/HBO co-production currently showing on Â鶹Éç TWO, has also been shortlisted in two categories - Best Television Drama Series and Best Actress in a Television Drama Series for Polly Walker.

Finally, The Girl In The Café, a Tightrope Pictures production in association with HBO for Â鶹Éç ONE by award-winning screenwriter Richard Curtis, garnered two acting nominations in the Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for television category for stars Bill Nighy (Love Actually, State Of Play) and Kelly MacDonald (Gosford Park, Trainspotting, State Of Play).

The Golden Globes take place on Monday 16 January 2006 in Los Angeles.
