Five-a-side football fanatics from 麻豆社 Yorkshire and Lincolnshire have enlisted the aid of a former England player to help them win a prestigious local cup - and raise cash for Comic Relief.

Hull City midfielder Nick Barmby, who has played 23 times for England, has agreed to manage the 麻豆社 Hull side when they take on 15 other teams in an attempt to win the Tigers 5 Cup in the Vulcan Arena, Hull on Thursday (3 March).

麻豆社 Look North Sports Editor Simon Clark said this would give his team a fantastic one-off chance to beat the opposition.

He said: "We have just finished third in division two of the league but we think we could do better so we have taken this one-off opportunity to enlist professional help just to give us that extra boost into a super team - and to raise money for this year's Comic Relief."

The team includes 麻豆社 Radio Humberside Sports Editor David Burns, the station's afternoon presenter Paul Hartley and radio sports journalist Matt Dean plus an assortment of cameramen, technicians and producers.

Simon said they were hugely excited with the news of their new manager, whose former teams include Liverpool and Everton. The event kicks off at 7.00pm.
