Adrian Van Klaveren, Deputy Director, Â鶹Éç News, says: "China is changing fast and opening up, so this week of special output gives us a chance to reflect on what's happening and what it means for the world.

Ìý

"We will be reporting from many different parts of the country with live programmes, discussions and insights into what life in China in 2005 is really like.

Ìý

"It should be a memorable week's programming for anyone who wants to understand China better."

Ìý

David Dimbleby will be in the chair as usual and the panel and audience will be the first to experience the unique cut and thrust of a Question Time debate in China.

Ìý

David Dimbleby said: "It's a breakthrough. To have a programme from China with known critics of the Chinese Government on the panel is something I never thought would happen.

Ìý

Ìý

For Â鶹Éç Breakfast (Â鶹Éç ONE & News 24) Declan Curry will report from the new workshop of the world.

Rupert Wingfield Hayes journeys across China east to west by road and boat in a series of special reports for the Â鶹Éç ONE Six and Ten O'Clock News bulletins that explore democracy and human rights.

On Newsnight (Â鶹Éç TWO) Susan Watts reports on the Chinese dilemma and asks how a fast growing carbon economy can limit its environmental impact.

Ìý

Paul Mason tells the story of economic growth and China's emerging middle and upper classes through the eyes of those working in Tianjin at a fish restaurant and market.

Ìý

Mason also stays in Tianjin - China's third biggest city - to look at the process of political reform.

Ìý

On Â鶹Éç FOUR, the life of a Chinese teenager and the pressures she faces are revealed in Teenage Boot Camp.

Ìý

The programme will explore the unique Chinese characteristics of socialism and the Chinese diaspora.

Ìý

Also on Radio 4, Nice Work looks at employment trends in China.

Ìý
