Noel Gallagher gets definitely maybe nostalgic
ten years on from the start of pop super-stardom when he meets Jonathan
Ross exclusively in the second show of the new series of Â鶹Éç ONE's
Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

Gallagher accuses Jonathan of being "a proper shandy
boy" - "We call you Shandy Pants in Manchester!" before
reminiscing about the early days of Oasis...

"Lots of good memories, lots of stupid ones, lots
of happy ones"... "[our greatest achievement] is that the
album [Definitely Maybe] is still talked about after ten years."
Ìý
And what it was like being at the centre of Brit Pop?
"It was quite calm. Not a playing bridge kind of calm. We knew
that we deserved all the accolades. It's not arrogance, it's self-belief.
There's a difference."

He also talks about his brother Liam: "His mental
state is very Salvador Dali.
Ìý
"The last conversation I had was an in-depth conversation
about cheese. And he knows nothing about cheese.
Ìý
"My mum's worse than him. That's where we get the
foul language from."
Ìý
His school days – "I hated my teachers to
a man. I got a letter asking me to go back to a school I went to. But
no one inspired me, I had to do it myself."
Ìý
Creation boss Alan McGee – "We were three-plus
years playing toilets up and down the country. Alan came in and offered
us a record deal on the spot... six albums, which we're about to complete.
Ìý
"I'll always be eternally respectful to him...
he kept giving us more and more money because he believed in us."
Ìý
And Noel's inability to drive – "I can't
drive, but it didn't stop me buying five cars."
Ìý
He only ever had ten driving lessons and was once given
a Rolls Royce by McGee while the rest of the band received vintage Rolex
watches: "It still narks Liam to this day. But he can't tell the
time, and I can't drive, so that's cool!"

Jonathan also welcomes to the show Oscar-winning writer,
director and actor Tim Robbins, whose play Embedded is currently
at the Riverside Studios; Hollywood star Josh Hartnett whose
new movie Wicker Park opens this Friday in the UK; and there's a rare
appearance by Ian Brown, performing his new single Keep What
Ya Got, accompanied by Noel Gallagher.
