DAYTIME

Christopher Timothy directs Glaswegian Afternoon Play

麻豆社 Daytime has announced a second series of five hour long Afternoon Plays following the critical acclaim of last year聮s dramas.

They air from Monday 26 to Friday 30 January 2004 on 麻豆社 ONE.

Christopher Timothy, star of 麻豆社's Daytime Bafta-nominated Doctors, directed one of the plays - Glasgow Dreams - which is set on a Glaswegian council estate.

It was written by Shan Khan and is a heart-warming story of hope, determination and humour.

Glasgow Dreams features young Scottish actors Shabana Bakhsh and James Young who play neighbours Yasmeela and Dino in the Freeview estate - where Yasmeela and her father encounter racism daily.

Rashid Karapiet plays Yasmeela's father Arob, Clare Grogan is Dino's mother and 麻豆社 Radio 1's Edith Bowman plays Yasmeela's teacher.

The four other plays are:

声 Venus and Mars, written by Johanna Baldwin, a witty story of love and friendship, starring Robson Green and Tina Hobley

Viva Las Blackpool by Damian Fitzsimmons is a mad cap tale of three middle aged women struggling with love, getting older and flying hamsters. It features Paula Wilcox, John McArdle and Clive Mantle and Sarah Lancashire makes her directorial debut

Drive, by Pete Lawson, is a story about a young woman's ambition and the sacrifices she must make. It stars Jamie Theakston, Jean Alexander and Jonathan Kerrigan

Sons, Daughters and Lovers written by Matthew Parkhill, is a screw ball love story, featuring Michael French and Kwame Kwei-Armeh
