Superstars - back on 麻豆社 ONE this year

Johnny Vaughan and Suzi Perry have been confirmed as the presenters of the legendary sports-entertainment show, Superstars, coming back to 麻豆社 ONE this year.

Contestants confirmed include footballers Dennis Wise and Stuart Pearce, athletes Colin Jackson and Liz McColgan, Annabel Croft from tennis, jockeys Richard Dunwoody and Peter Scudamore, rugby players Martin Offiah and brothers Rory and Tony Underwood, plus Steve Collins from boxing and skier Alain Baxter.

Based at La Manga in southern Spain, they聮re just a few of the top sportsmen and sportswomen who have signed up to take part in ten disciplines, ranging from the infamous gym tests (dips and squats), to mountain biking, the 100 metre sprint, target golf and swimming.

Produced by TWI, Superstars will be a six-part series, featuring four men's qualifiers and a final, and a women's special.

Presenter Johnny Vaughan says: "Superstars was a great show; everyone has fond memories of it.

"The public demand to bring it back has been huge and this time we've got a real mix from all areas of sport.

"Footballers like Wise and Pearce are bound to spice things up and I can't wait to see the girls in action!"

Co-host Suzi Perry said: "When I was growing up I absolutely loved Superstars, seeing different sports favourites in different challenges against each other. For me, Brian Jacks was the man!

"I'm sure the contestants will be taking this very seriously, and whatever they say or show on the outside, you know deep down they really want to win.

"I expect it will be a huge amount of fun and I'm looking forward to working with Johnny Vaughan. Better get practising those squat thrusts!"

Contestants will be based in an Olympic-style village at the world-famous La Manga Club in southern Spain, where they will live and compete together.

Gym tests will be held at La Cala Beach, swimming at Bellaluz Pool and Kayaking on the Mar de Cristal.

Available for press telephone interviews before 1.00pm on Tuesday 8 April are Colin Jackson, Martin Offiah, Paul Hunter, Annabel Croft, Liz McColgan, and Rory and Tony Underwood. Please contact the 麻豆社 Press Office.
