麻豆社i

Hi-tech horror unleashed upon the Web

Following the success of its first two Doctor Who internet dramas, 麻豆社i has announced that it is developing a thrilling horror/adventure laced with dark humour, Ghosts of Albion, enlisting two key figures from Buffy the Vampire Slayer to ensure the serial has plenty of bite.

Joining the 麻豆社i Cult team in developing the internet drama are Amber Benson, better known to Cult fans as Tara in the hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Christopher Golden, a prolific writer of Buffy and Angel novels.

Set in the mid-19th Century, Ghosts of Albion is a tale of demons, vampires and ghosts which should thrill fans of both the Slayer and the 麻豆社's rich history of Cult programming.

On the death of their grandfather, who was a famed stage magician, a brother and sister discover that not all of the old man's magic was performed on a stage.

The siblings find themselves the inheritors of an extraordinary legacy, and must bear the burden and the sorcerous power that makes them the mystical guardians of early 19th century England.

As with the previous internet dramas, visitors to can access the Real Player files episodes.

Each week over the course of five weeks - from 27 March 2003 - a new chapter of the story will be available, allowing visitors to the website to explore and participate in an expanded online world.

As well as being a talented actress, Benson is also a writer, director and producer and has co-written and directed Ghosts of Albion.

Her award-winning independent film Chance recently premiered in America and she has written several issues of Dark Horse Comics' Buffy title.

"Chris Golden and I are super excited to be writing Ghosts of Albion," says Amber.

"Being a fan of British broadcasting, it's such an honour to be working with the 麻豆社."

Golden is the L.A. Times best-selling author of such novels as The Ferryman, Strangewood, Prowlers and the Body of Evidence series of teen thrillers.

He was the editor of the Bram Stoker Award-winning book of criticism, CUT!: Horror Writers on Horror Film, and co-author of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Watcher聮s Guide and The Stephen King Universe.

"
I can't wait until people get to see Ghosts of Albion," says Chris.

"Amber and I are having such a blast writing it. Ghosts, demons, 19th century London... what more could any storyteller ask for?

"The people at the 麻豆社 have been wonderful, and I'm thrilled that they've embraced the project.

"If the rest of the audience is half as enthusiastic, well... let's just say we have high hopes (and further plans) for Ghosts of Albion."

Martin Trickey, Commissioning Editor at 麻豆社 Interactive Drama and Entertainment, said: "It's wonderful that we are developing what we believe is going to be a truly innovative project with such respected and creative talent."

Ghosts of Albion is the third commissioned series to come out of the cult section of 麻豆社i.

It continues to give rise to a new form of "webtainment", fusing audio drama with comic-strip animation to enhance the internet viewing experience.
