Richard Deverell

Chief Operating Officer, Â鶹Éç North

Richard Deverell is the Chief Operating Officer for Â鶹Éç North. Richard was appointed to this role in March 2009 and started on a full-time basis in November 2009.

His new job is at the heart of the creation of a major new network centre in the north of England, which includes the biggest move in the Â鶹Éç's history – with Children's, 5 Live, Sport, Learning and parts of Future, Media & Technology relocating from London in 2011.

In this role, Richard will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic and operational infrastructure for Â鶹Éç North. He will help ensure the right technology, partnerships, ways of working and talent are in place to deliver the Â鶹Éç's ambitions as it seeks to create a media centre for the internet age at MediaCity in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester.

Richard was Controller, Â鶹Éç Children's, from 2006 to 2009. He was previously Head of News Interactive, responsible for the Â鶹Éç News website and before that, Head of Strategy and Marketing at Â鶹Éç News.

Richard joined the Â鶹Éç in 1992 in the strategy department where he worked on a variety of projects including Â鶹Éç Charter renewal and developing the Â鶹Éç's response to multi-channel television distribution and the internet.

Prior to joining the Â鶹Éç, Richard worked in management consultancy. He read Natural Sciences at Cambridge and is married with three children.
