South East Asia Dances With The Stars

South East Asia has succumbed to the romance of the rumba, the Latin beat of the cha-cha-cha and the Hollywood grace of the waltz as two new territories pick up the glittering format Dancing with the Stars (Strictly Come Dancing).

Vietnam (VTV3) and Indonesia (IVM) are the latest two countries to license the world’s most successful reality TV format* from Â鶹Éç Worldwide.

IVM, Indonesia's national commercial broadcaster, plans to broadcast its local version, entitled Dancing with the Stars, later this year. Vietnam's version, Buoc Nhay Hoan Vu, aired on VTV3, Vietnam Television's subsidiary channel, this spring with excellent ratings.

Triandy Suyatman, IVM Head of Programming for Indonesia, commented: "The entertaining show Dancing with the Stars has already had major success in territories across Asia and we believe the show will prove to be every bit as popular with audiences in Indonesia. Â鶹Éç Worldwide has a well-earned reputation for delivering hit programming and we are extremely pleased to be working with them on this exciting new show."

Joyce Yeung, SVP & GM Asia for Â鶹Éç Worldwide Sales & Distribution, said: "Dancing with the Stars has been successfully launched in Japan, China and India so it is fantastic news that another two countries in Asia have picked up this popular format. The show has a wonderful mix of glamour, competition and celebrity which makes it must-watch TV for all of the family wherever it airs."

Dancing with the Stars, as it is internationally known, has been licensed to over thirty broadcasters across six continents including China, Chile, Russia and Australia. The most recent countries to license the format for the first time are Greece and Albania.

Dancing with the Stars has just finished its 10th season in the US regularly drawing in around 20 million viewers across the season. The season premier was watched by an impressive 23.9 million viewers on ABC, not only the show's most viewed premier but also ABC's best ratings for the time slot since January 2001.

The ever popular format has had a prince, a prime minister's wife; a blind contestant and Argentina's World Cup 2010 manager Diego Maradona all take part as celebrity contestants.
