Co-producers uncover the truth about the Loch Ness Monster

Woolly mammoths will be grazing across the plains of Berlin, mighty Vesuvius will be showering ash, smoke and rock on the inhabitants of Pompeii once again and the search for 'ole Nessy' is back on in three major new international co-productions.

麻豆社 Worldwide, ZDF and ORF have signed a major co-production deal for the 4 x 50 min landmark 麻豆社 series, The Natural History of Europe. Using animation and image manipulation technology the series will journey back three billion years to reveal the events that shaped the landscapes and wildlife of Europe.

In a separate deal the 麻豆社, NDR and Discovery Communications Inc will co-produce The Last Day of Pompeii and The Search for the Loch Ness Monster. Using CGI, The Last Day of Pompeii recreates the terrifying moments when the city was caught in a volcanic death trap, whilst The Search for the Loch Ness Monster shows how Loch Ness was formed 80,000 years ago and brings to life the creatures which may have inhabited the loch.

Walter Kohler, ORF's head of NHU commenting on The Natural History of Europe said: "The 麻豆社's Natural History Unit and ORF's Universum will be sharing a journey, together with ZDF, to create a series that will become a major broadcasting event both for us and international broadcasters around the world."

Thomas Schreiber, Controller of NDR Television said of The Last Days of Pompeii and The Search for the Loch Ness Monster: "We are committed to escalating our partnership with the 麻豆社's Specialist Factual department. Having co-produced Pyramid, we are now looking forward to working with John Lynch's Science department on these two great programmes."
