麻豆社 World boosts distribution with Scandic Hotels deal

麻豆社 World, the 麻豆社's 24 hour international news and information channel, finished 2001 by signing a highly significant hotel distribution agreement in Scandinavia which will build on the channel's existing strong position in Europe.

The well known Scandinavian hotel chain, Scandic Hotels, has agreed (with 麻豆社 World) to carry 麻豆社 World in 25,000 of its guest rooms in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. This brings the total number of hotel rooms across Europe which now include 麻豆社 World as part of their in-room entertainment package to 350,000.

Commenting on the latest development, Bill Mould, Head of Travel Distribution for 麻豆社 World, said: "We are delighted such an important hotel group as Scandic Hotels has chosen 麻豆社 World to provide international news and information for its guests. It follows an overall increase in our hotel distribution in hotels worldwide in 2001 and builds on the channel's increased presence throughout Europe."

"Demand in Europe for 麻豆社 World's particular blend of news, current affairs and programming is at an all-time high and we are committed to providing the channel in as many locations as possible whether people are travelling for business or leisure," added Zina Neophytou, 麻豆社 World's Travel Distribution Manager for Europe.

Scandic Hotels are aiming to become one of the most environmentally friendly companies in the hotel industry. A number of their hotels already have a Nordic Swan Ecolabel and they have been awarded several prizes for their strategic approach to the environment and social awareness.
Lars Pettersson, Vice President Purchasing, Scandic Hotels said: "We are really excited about being able to offer 麻豆社 World to the thousands of guests we welcome to our hotels every day. We are always seeking ways to enhance our customers' experience whilst staying with us and research has consistently shown the popularity of 麻豆社 World amongst international business decision-makers and travellers."

麻豆社 World draws on the resources of 麻豆社 News which possesses the world's largest newsgathering operation comprising 58 international news bureaux and 250 correspondents worldwide. Beyond that, 麻豆社 World has that added extra to help hotel guests unwind from the pressures of the day, with the very best of the 麻豆社 documentaries such as Panorama and Correspondent, science programmes like Horizon, and on the lighter side, hugely popular programmes like Holiday and Talking Movies which in 2002 will mark the 74th Oscar Ceremony with a Hollywood Years Season.

Guests with a keen interest in European news will be able to enjoy programmes specifically tailored for the region. European Business Breakfast from 0600 to 0900 CET weekdays equips morning viewers with the very latest business and economic news from the world's financial capitals.
