1500 hours of new 麻豆社 programming at 麻豆社 Showcase

麻豆社 Showcase, hosted by 麻豆社 Worldwide, the main commercial arm of the 麻豆社 will unveil 1500 hours of new 麻豆社 programming from across Drama, Science, Entertainment, Comedy and Children's to the world's TV programme buyers at the Brighton Conference centre (24th - 27th February 2002).

麻豆社 Showcase continues to be the world's largest television programme market hosted by a single broadcaster. Deals initiated at the market generate an estimated 拢40 million annually for 麻豆社 Worldwide.

Rupert Gavin, Chief Executive, 麻豆社 Worldwide said, "The year on year success of 麻豆社 Showcase clearly demonstrates the strength of the 麻豆社 in the international market - no other broadcaster in the world has the range of programming, in terms of quality and diversity, to attract so many international buyers for such an event."

More than 400 international TV programme buyers will also be able to experience the future of television, as 麻豆社 Worldwide unveils its range of groundbreaking interactive TV services for digital platforms. Buyers will see demonstrations of Top of the Pops Interactive, 麻豆社 News Interactive and the BAFTA award-winning Walking with Beasts Interactive and
Games, including Tweenies and Bill and Ben.

Heading the documentary programme line-up is Sahara (6 x 50'), the new and much anticipated series from Michael Palin. Sahara sees Palin facing one of the world's greatest challenges - crossing the world's largest desert. Previous Palin adventures, including Michael Palin's Hemingway Adventure, Pole to Pole and Around the World in Eighty Days have been seen across the globe in over 50 countries.

The Queen's Golden Jubilee Concerts will also be highlighted at 麻豆社 Showcase. 麻豆社 Worldwide is marketing the concerts to mark Her Majesty The Queen's Golden Jubilee. A Classical concert will be held on Saturday June 1st, and a Rock and Pop concert on Monday 3rd June, both in the gardens of Buckingham Palace. It is anticipated that America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, South Africa, Germany, France and Scandinavia will be the first to sign up for the concerts.

Included in the drama line-up is Spooks (6 x 50'), which takes the viewer into the thrilling world of MI5, espionage, drug traffickers and anarchists. And from the producers of Cold Feet comes Rescue Me (6 x 50'). Starring Sally Philips and Vincent Regan this comedy drama is set in the offices of "Eden" magazine.

Children's programming includes Ace Lightning (6 x 25'), a groundbreaking pre-teen action comedy that combines live action and CGI animation. Also Stig of the Dump (6 x 25 or 1 x 103') is an adaptation of the classic story that has charmed children since its first publication in 1963.

Having it Off (6 x 30') is a no-holds-barred sitcom written and starring Anthony Cotton (Absolutely Fabulous, Queer as Folk) as Guy La Trousse, a quick-witted, short-tempered hairdresser's manager whose dream is to become a television personality.

Leading the History offering this year is Battle of the Atlantic (3 x 50'), a documentary series charting the perils of 1942 when the Allies appeared to be on the brink of defeat.

Science includes The Weather (4 x 50'). Using breathtaking filming techniques and stunning CGI The Weather takes viewers into the elements, be it unimaginable winds, the floods of pre-history or the eye of the storm.

Representing Natural History, from the team that created Supernatural comes Weird Nature (3 x 50'), a celebration of the inventiveness and ingenuity of the animal kingdom.
