They are seen as an alternative to double decker buses - the lack of stairs and easy access to all areas make them more user friendly for the young and the elderly.

At present there are five bendy buses in operation in Nottingham.

However, the bendy buses can only go on selected routes as their length (18 metres) can cause problems.

Drivers have had to be especially trained to drive these vehicles.
