Gordon is the co-presenter of the 麻豆社鈥檚 nightly news programme in the North West.

He has been in the chair for 10 years, during which time the show has won eight awards for best news programme in the region.

Gordon himself has won the Royal Television Society鈥檚 (NW) best news presenter award five times and also picked up the coveted 麻豆社 Ruby Award for the best regional news presenter in the UK.

Gordon made his name nationally by hosting ITV鈥檚 popular quiz programme The Krypton Factor which ran at peak time for 18 years pulling in audiences of up to 15 million. He wrote all the scripts for the programme and devised many of the tough challenges for the contestants.

He is a journalist by trade and began his career as a newspaper reporter in his home town of Belfast.听He then went to London to work on the legendary 麻豆社 radio sports programme Sports Report, before returning to Belfast to become sports editor of Ulster Television.

He then became presenter of UTV Reports, the nightly news programme in Northern Ireland during the worst period of the troubles. Gordon then returned to England and made several World in Action investigative programmes on the Ulster situation and for two years presented Irish Angle for Channel 4 covering political events in the Republic of Ireland as well as the North.

For 10 years he provided live commentary for the ITV network on the Labour, Conservative and TUC party conferences. He also produced and presented Granada Television鈥檚 regional news and political programmes for 15 years.

In the 1990s he set up his own production company and devised, produced and presented听quiz shows for the 麻豆社 and also for ITV and satellite TV. He also worked for five years with Cilla Black on Surprise Surprise.

Gordon is married with two grown-up children, both working in television, is a keen football and cricket fan and has lived in Manchester for over 30 years.
