Sunny Winters and Dan Reynolds, the brains behind In An Emergency Dial (IAED), are looking forward to their new partnership with the Norwich Arts Centre that will hopefully pull in some big bands and artists to Norfolk.

"We want to revive the music scene in the East by assisting local musicians where possible with support slots and by getting more people to attend local gigs," said Sunny.

The company has high hopes of reaching out to the stars, with them already managing to bag acts such as Hip-Hop group Ugly Duckling for a gig in January 2009.

To apply for a future In An Emergency Dial support slot at the Norwich Arts Centre, the company are asking local talent to provide a demo and short biography.

"We host shows, working closely with booking agents of big bands and local venues to get some great up-and-coming and established artists to Norwich," said Sunny.Ìý

Sunny believes Norfolk's music scene can benefit greatly from his company's venue partnership with the Norwich Arts Centre.

"I feel passionate about music in Norwich. I think there are so many amazing genres out there," he said.

"We'd just like to keep getting bigger and better bands and try and move our work to the Norwich Waterfront – possibly even to the UEA," he added.Ìý

Science Vs Romance, a band that 22-year-old Sunny manages, are just one of a number of acts that hope to benefit from the partnership.

"Science Vs Romance are looking to be hot property in 2009. They've had interest from the NME, Rocksound and Kerrang! so this partnership will help push them towards success," he said.

IAED have already hosted a successful gig with American Hip-Hop group Ugly Duckling back in January 2009 - a band that Sunny was a particular fan of.

"They weren't your average Hip-Hop group. They used 'old-school' methods like scratching and freestyling, but their songs had comical undertones and were really easy to get into," he said.

The latest gig by IAED is with Wild Beasts and Napoleon IIIrd at the Norwich Arts Centre on Saturday, 21 February, 2009.Ìý

"Wild Beasts took 2008 by storm with loads of great shows, including a performance at the Â鶹Éç Electric Proms and slots at various festivals," said Sunny.

"They're really catchy and have a fun sound. Their vocalist has a rather bizarre voice, but it works really nicely," he added.

Applying for a gig

To apply for an IAED gig, local bands will need to provide a demo and a short biography.

"When looking for a support act, we look for a band that's not too dissimilar to the headliner, but not a carbon-copy. We simply want bands that are creating catchy songs and having fun," said Sunny.
