As well as being a great form of entertainment, studies have found that reading can be good for our health too.

Research has found that reading for 30 minutes a week can improve our health and wellbeing, as well as improving our confidence and self-esteem.

It can also help with our sleep - and we all know how important that is!

But, the recent report from the NLT charity found that around a third of children and young people aged between eight and 18, said they enjoyed reading in their free time in 2024 - that's the lowest level since the charity started doing the survey in 2005.

The charity spoke to more than 76,000 children and young people from 405 schools across the UK as part of the survey between January and March this year.

It also found that one in five of those surveyed read something every day in their free time.
