Deepest place in ocean swarming with life

The deepest place in the ocean, the Mariana Trench, is swarming with microscopic life, say scientists.

The underwater canyon is almost seven miles deep and is located in the Pacific Ocean.

It had been thought the environment, with its near-freezing temperatures and complete darkness, was too tough for life to exist.

But samples collected from the very bottom of the Mariana Trench show lots of microscopic organisms there.
