Clark was jailed for 10 years at the High Court in Livingston

A man who carried out a campaign of physical and sexual abuse against three women has been jailed for 10 years.

Kris Clark, 37, from Dumfries, was told by a judge he had "clearly lost all human decency".

He was jailed at the High Court in Livingston having previously been convicted of a string of sexual offences.

Lord Arthurson told him he had been "lost in a world of sexual deviance" when he committed his crimes.

"You abused, sexually coerced and used sexual violence towards your victims over a prolonged period," he said.

"The damage inflicted by you upon them by your abhorrent criminal conduct will undoubtedly be long-lasting and potentially incalculable in its nature."

Clark was convicted on 12 charges - including the rape and sexual coercion of two women - in what the judge described as "truly appalling circumstances".

His other offences included stalking, engaging in abusive conduct and sexual assault.

Lord Arthurson told him: "It is plain from the range, duration and gravity of the offending before the court that only a very substantial custodial sentence is appropriate."

In addition to his jail term, Clark will remain on licence for five years after he is released from jail and he was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
