Greater Manchester Police bike unit to tackle off-road riders
- Published
A specialist police unit is set to return to help tackle havoc caused by anti-social off-road motorbike riders.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the team would be re-established after reports of persistent problems with dirt bikes being ridden at all hours in the Oldham area.
A force spokesman said the unit would be set up "in the coming weeks".
It was disbanded two years ago during cut backs, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
GMP said officers recognised the importance of keeping residents safe from dangerous off-road riders, "as well as protecting our green spaces and local amenities from damage".
