'Strangled' Withernsea Beach grey seal pup rescued

The female grey pup had rope, fishing line and monofilament netting around its neck
A grey seal pup found "at risk of drowning" on a beach has been rescued.
The 2st 9lb (19kg) female, was found on the coast of Withernsea, East Yorkshire, with twine wrapped tightly around her neck.
Andrea Burn, who found the pup, which also had rope and fishing line around its neck, looked "exhausted".
It was taken to Scarborough Sealife Centre where it is recovering until it is well enough to be released back into the wild.
Ms Burn said: "The twine was wrapped so tightly around its neck that it almost looked embedded."

British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) said the pup, which it retrieved at 17:00 GMT on Wednesday, was "only a few months old".
"The netting had only started to cut into the top of the animals neck so it should make a good recovery," Julia Cable, from the group, said.
She said discarded nets and other litter posed a threat to marine life.
