One person has been arrested after a woman was left seriously injured during a suspected hit-and-run in Bristol, police have said.

The crash involving an electric motorbike happened at Greville Smyth Park at about 14:40 BST, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The force said the motorcyclist rode off a mound and struck the woman.

Officers said one person had been arrested and they were looking for further suspects.

Police said three other people were seen leaving the scene on electric motorbikes.

The injured woman remains in hospital, police said.

Sgt Owen Davies, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: "None of those on the bikes stopped to check on the woman's welfare following the incident.

"We have however arrested one person in connection with our inquiries this evening, with assistance from the National Police Air Service helicopter.

“We’ve already obtained some CCTV from surrounding streets and will continue to gather more over the coming days."

Police said anyone with information should contact them.
