A teenager was threatened at knifepoint by three males who attempted to steal his bike, North Yorkshire Police have said.

The males are believed to have approached the boy, who was on an electric bike, in Woodfield Park, Bilton, in Harrogate, at about 14:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The boy was threatened with a knife and the males tried to force him to hand over the bike, however a passer-by intervened and the suspects instead fled with the teenager's mobile phone.

Det Insp Mark Stamper appealed for anyone in the area with information or with CCTV or doorbell footage from the time of the incident to get in touch, adding: "This is a concerning incident and a full investigation is under way."

“We have conducted house to house inquiries close to where the incident happened and are working hard to try and identify the suspects," he added.
