Woman, 89, seriously injured in hit-and-run
An 89-year-old woman has been seriously hurt after being struck by a large SUV-type vehicle while she was crossing the road.
It happened at 10:10 BST on Moss Bank Way in Bolton and the driver of the silver or grey vehicle failed to stop, Greater Manchester Police said.
The woman was taken to hospital with wrist and knee fractures.
Police appealed for anyone with information about the driver or any witnesses to come forward.
Footage appeal
The vehicle had been turning left out of Hill View Road onto Moss Bank Way and drove off in that direction after hitting the woman, who remains in a stable condition, the force said.
Ch Insp Michael Parker said officers were reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to people who were in the Astley Bridge area at the time of the crash.
He also appealed for any dashcam or mobile phone footage that could support the investigation and urged the driver to come forward.
