An 88-year-old man who died after coming off his mobility scooter in a crash was "always smiling", his family have said.
Greater Manchester Police said Joe Shaw was "unseated" as he was crossing Flapper Fold Lane in Atherton, Wigan, after being struck by a Volkswagen Golf on 12 April.
He was taken to hospital after the midday crash but died a short time later.
Mr Shaw's family said the "much-loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather" was well known in the local community.
"Joe enjoyed watching football, playing dominoes and he always had a smile on his face," the tribute said.
"He died surrounded by his loved ones and will be sadly missed. He is now back with his beloved Rita.鈥
A 30-year-old woman who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and drug-driving has been bailed pending further inquiries, the force said.
