Two men have been charged after a 33-year-old man was hit by a van in Peterhead after a firework explosion on Bonfire Night.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics in the town's Aalesund Road area at about 21:20 on Tuesday.

An area of grass at the nearby skatepark was damaged in the explosion.

Police Scotland said the men, aged 57 and 62, had been charged over the incident and would appear at Peterhead Sheriff Court at a later date.

The force said a second man, aged 37, was also struck by the van but was not hurt.
