A senior member of the Welsh government says First Minister Vaughan Gething was right to sack Hannah Blythyn who is alleged to have leaked to the media.

Mr Gething fired her as minister for social partnership last week, alleging she had leaked text messages.

Ms Blythyn strongly denies the allegation, but Health Minister Eluned Morgan said she was "happy" with the explanation given.

She said there was "evidence" to support Mr Gething's decision and the messages could be traced to Ms Blythyn's phone.

Â鶹Éç Wales has approached Ms Blythyn for comment.

Last week in a social media statement Ms Blythyn said: "I am deeply shocked and saddened by what has happened... I am clear and have been clear that I did not, nor have I ever leaked anything.

"Integrity is all in politics and I retain mine."

On Â鶹Éç Radio Wales Breakfast, Ms Morgan said there had to be a "degree of trust" within the cabinet, and that she was "happy" with Mr Gething's explanation.

Ms Morgan declined to go into detail about the evidence itself.

She added: "My understanding is that the leak can definitely be traced to her phone.

"There's enough evidence to support that."

She said the first minister had made it "absolutely clear" there was a way back for Ms Blythyn.

Conservatives reiterated calls for the evidence to be published.

Andrew RT Davies, leader of the Tory Senedd group, said: "We cannot be expected to just take the minister’s word for it when Hannah Blythyn has directly denied any leaking and has called the first minister’s integrity into question."
