Staff sought to run Post Office after resignation

A search for people to take over post office services in the Isle of Man's capital has begun.

It follows the resignation of the current sub-postmaster of Windsor Road Post Office, Lynda Braidwood, after 43 years in the role.

Isle of Man Post Office is now calling for someone new to provide counter, postal and bill payment services in the area in Douglas.

The contract would be for a fixed period until 31 March 2025, which could be extended by a further year.

Post office chairman Stu Peters MHK thanked Ms Braidwood for "the services she and her team have provided".

"By starting the expression of interest now, it will allow us to adhere to the required procurement protocol and understand what interest there may be from existing or new businesses in the community,鈥 he said.

The current sub-post office has been provided by an independent retailer, so any new provider may have to provide an alternative location for the services.

The deadline for applications is 2 April.
