A teenage girl who was killed when she was hit by a car had her life's plans "cruelly taken away," her family have said.
Keely Morgan, 15, died after being hit by a car on Heol Trelai, Caerau, Cardiff at about 21:30 BST on Monday.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Her parents said Keely had a "beautiful smile" that lit up the room, while her teachers described her as an "exceptional student" who loved school.
In a statement, mum Sian Morgan and stepdad Liam Coulthard said: 鈥淎s a family we are just devastated at the sudden loss of Keely. Our hearts are broken.
鈥淪he was sensible, kind and not one person ever had a bad word to say about her.
鈥淚n such a short time in this world, she had touched so many people and she had so many plans that have now been so cruelly taken away.鈥
The family added that they were 鈥渙verwhelmed鈥 by the love and support shown to them, and were grateful to those who tried to help at the scene.
Martin Hulland, head teacher at Cardiff West Community High School where Keely was a pupil, said everyone was 鈥渁bsolutely devastated鈥.
He added: "Keely was an exceptional student who loved school. She was a good friend to many students and had a real passion for drama.
鈥淲e will all miss her terribly.鈥
South Wales Police said inquiries into the circumstances of the teenager's death were continuing.
