About twelve years ago Rachel packed her bags and left her home in Rochdale and headed abroad as an overseas representative for a travel agency. "My first year was spent in Majorca doing children's clubs, went from there to work as a rep on the island of Crete," says Rachel. "It was a fantastic place to work. The night life was great, the fun, the sun the sea. Everything was there, including the hard work." Eventually Rachel ended up in Egypt. "I did a season in Egypt with the travel company and ended up meeting my future husband. It did take quite a long time for us to get married (ten years). "We ran a Scuba diving centre, we were out on the boats most days and we spent more time under the water than we did on the surface." Rachel says she did miss some of the home comforts and came back here to get married be fore returning to Egypt for another short stint. Then four years ago Rachel and her husband decided to return to Rochdale. "Four years on we're still loving it, missing the sun a little bit, missing the sea a little bit, but we know we made the right decision." |
