With just
one week to go before the first Commonwealth Games teams are expected
to arrive at Manchester Airport, track star turned 麻豆社 reporter,
Diane Modahl, paid a visit to check on preparations.
The first teams
are expected to start arriving from July 15 and the airport is gearing
up for a busy few weeks, as the Games Family of teams, officials
and VIPs pass through on their way to the competition and then fly
home again afterwards.
And 34-year-old
Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Diane, couldn鈥檛 be more excited
about this fantastic sporting event. She will be reporting for the
麻豆社 during the Games, as she grabs those first post-competition
interviews with all the biggest names in sport.
Welcoming the
Games to her home town of Manchester has made this year even more
special for Diane. "Seeing Manchester come alive and in full colour
in the same way the World Cup galvanised the emotions and passions
of the South Koreans and Japanese will be fantastic. I鈥檓 looking
forward to being part of a big party, really.
"I鈥檓 looking
forward to the haul of medals Team England will win," she said.
"I think we鈥檙e going to do really well and it鈥檚 going to be great
seeing the new names that emerge during the Games, as well as watching
more established competitors like Kelly Holmes, Jonathan Edwards
and Steve Backley."
