The Queen's
Jubilee Baton Relay isn't just about running! The Baton has taken
some interesting alternative modes of transport to get to Wales
today.
While touring
Scotland, The Baton took a boat trip on Loch Ness and tried to locate
the legendary Loch Ness monster. Nessie remained hidden but, mysteriously,
as the Baton was lowered into the water, those on dry land did report
a loss of communications for a time.
The Baton stopped
off at the Isle of Man on June 13th and was attached to a TT motorcycle
for the journey to Douglas, before being carried by horse-pulled
tram and electric tram. It then it headed for the airport at high
speed travelling by TT motorcycle sidecar.
After touring
Guernsey and Jersey later that day, it was carried to the evening
celebration in St Helier aboard a rowing boat.
This weekend
the Baton will continue a four day tour of Wales and will travel
by steam train from Blaenau Ffestiniog on Saturday and Canal Boat
on Sunday morning from Trevor, Wrexham.
Look out for
other unusual methods of transport along the UK route, which are
expected to include horse, hovercraft, penny farthing and milk float!
